His Little Big Boy Room

We have no more cribs in our house, it's official. Yesterday we took apart our youngest son's crib and turned it into a toddler bed. It's one of those Ikea cribs that convert. The bed looked so tiny when it was all put together, but it worked in the spacially-challenged (!) bedroom, and felt immediately right when we moved it into its place.

And, most importantly, he approved.

He was more than okay with it, in fact, leaping off and on the bed for the next few hours and proudly telling everyone within ear shot about his "big boy room".

As we took apart the crib and put the redundant pieces away, I thought about how this room started out, four years ago, as a nursery, decked out with all its baby accessories. Now it's been bedroom to two boys and the signs of baby are quickly fading.

Some baby things remain though. It's going to take me a while to part with them all.

Kinda bittersweet. It does look really nice though - did he sleep well in it last night?

He slept fine - we were surprised, he didn't try to get up once!

Awww, that is so sweet. And the fact he likes it---that a bonus!

I just love those curtain panels on the window - such cute fabric. I'm kinda ready to be "cribless" over here. Still a little while though...

You know - I didn't really mind getting rid of the cribs. I mean - I had three going at one time for a while there... But every once in a while I remember how it felt to lift a tiny bundle out. I do miss that.

Love the new big boy bed. Adorable.

Congratulations O.!!! And hugs to his many. It's a happy thing, but no doubt also bittersweet.

O, that goes so fast, doesn't it?

It's a lovely looking room!

Actually, we have that exact same range from Ikea (isn't that funny, with us being so far away and all) but I didn't know the top of the end could be inserted in the side to stop them falling out! Was it made like that or did you just adapt it yourself?

Mwa - we just tried the top end into the side and it worked perfectly!

It is looking lovely!

We have done the same a couple of weeks ago and the funny things is that we have chosen the same colour schemes, wall and the dicey cover is of the same fabric of your curtains :)
